Concert by classical guitarist Yuri Liberzon, with the classical guitar ensemble from the Peterson School of Music as an opener.
Yuri Liberzon plays the Regent Street Black Box on Friday, November 20, at 7:30 PM. The evening is presented by Utah Classical Guitar and runs 105 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission. Opening for him is the PSM Guitar Ensemble, the classical guitar ensemble from the Diana and Joel Peterson School of Music.
Liberzon is a California-based concert classical guitarist and recording artist who's earned a reputation for combining musical elegance with architectural logic, as Classical Guitar Magazine put it. Stephen Roberts, president of the Sacramento Guitar Society, described hearing him play as "like opening a bottle of wine and realizing that you have just tasted one of the best wines you will ever experience. Ever." Between those two, you get a sense of what he's known for: a precise, polished approach to the guitar that doesn't lose its grace.
The night starts with the PSM Guitar Ensemble, so you'll hear the instrument in a group setting before Liberzon takes over for the main feature. It's a full evening of classical guitar, from the ensemble opening through to Liberzon's solo work, and the whole thing runs about an hour and 45 minutes, including that 15-minute break.
