A wine tasting event pairing wine with birds, featuring Decoy winery from Sonoma County.
Wine Takes Flight returns to the Tracy Aviary on Thursday, October 15, with a spotlight on Duckhorn/Decoy. It's one of the aviary's recurring series, and the format is pretty specific: they pair wines with birds that either migrate through or are native to the country where the wine is produced. So, if the wine comes from a certain region, the bird you'll hear about has a connection to that same part of the world. It's a nice way to tie the tasting to the actual work the aviary does with birds.
This particular session focuses on Decoy, which the aviary describes as their favorite winery. Decoy is based in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, and the name itself is a nod to the birds—the label features a duck, which fits right in with the whole theme of the evening. If you've been to a Wine Takes Flight before, you know the drill: you get to sip through a few pours and hear the stories that connect the wine to the wildlife.

The event takes place at the Chase Mill within the aviary, located in Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. It runs from 6 PM to 7:30 PM, so it's a relatively short evening—easy to fit in on a Thursday without it turning into a late night. Tickets are $55.
