Usha Uthup Concert

Usha Uthup plays Skyline High School on Friday, October 16, at 6:30 PM. The concert is presented by the Ulhaas Bengali Association of Utah, and it's being billed as her first time on a Salt Lake City stage.

Uthup is a highly accomplished and popular Indian artist who has performed in numerous cities both inside and outside India. Her repertoire covers a wide range of Indian music: classical and light musicals, folk, traditional, sufi, modern, and Bollywood songs. For this show, she'll be performing with her team, and the set is described as an evening of Bollywood classics, pop hits, and timeless favorites played live. It's a broad sweep of styles, so you'll hear everything from the more traditional side of her work to the big, recognizable sounds of Bollywood.

If you're not already familiar with her, Uthup is known for that exact kind of range. She doesn't stick to one corner of Indian music; she moves between classical, folk, and sufi, and then shifts into the modern and Bollywood songs that a lot of people recognize. This concert brings those different threads together in one night, with the Bollywood classics and pop hits taking center stage, all played live with her band.

It's a one-night appearance, so if you've been wanting to see her, this is the time. The show is at Skyline High School, 3251 E 3760 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84109, starting at 6:30 PM on Friday, October 16.
