Live show by the folk-Americana trio The Wildwoods from Nebraska at The Urban Lounge, 21+.
The Wildwoods play The Urban Lounge on Tuesday, October 20, at 7 PM. They're a folk-Americana trio from Lincoln, Nebraska, and this is a headlining date for them.
The band is fronted by Noah Gose on vocals and acoustic and electric guitar, his wife Chloe Gose on vocals and violin, and Andrew Vaggalis on vocals and upright bass. All three sing, so the harmonies are a good part of what they do. Their fourth album, Dear Meadowlark, came out on April 11, 2025, and the songs on it draw from the indie sensibilities of Nickel Creek, Gillian Welch, Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons, with lyrics rooted in their home state. That's a wide enough spread to give you a sense of where they sit: the bluegrass lean of Nickel Creek, the sparse, rooted feel of Welch, and the more atmospheric, indie-folk side of Bon Iver.
They've picked up some recognition along the way, too. They placed as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and were finalists in the 2024 Rocky Mountain Songwriter Contest, as well as in the 2023 FreshGrass Music Festival and VHS 'Gems in the Rough' competitions. They describe their own work as continuing to bring sonic beauty and simplicity to today's increasingly complicated and cluttered musical landscape.
