Salt Lake Acting Company brings The Thin Place to its stage from February 3 to 28, 2027. It's the Utah premiere of Lucas Hnath's play, directed by Jason Bowcutt, and it runs for 90 minutes.
The play is described as an intimate and surprising séance that leaves the audience questioning what they hear and what the mind is capable of, set at "the thin place, that fragile boundary between our world and the next." It's presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
If you're not familiar with the company, it's one of the city's main spots for contemporary theater. It traces its roots back to 1969 in a Unitarian Church and has spent decades producing Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwrights, alongside many world-premiere plays. Its current home is the historic 1896 19th Ward House of Worship in the Marmalade Hill District, a 14,000-square-foot facility that houses two flexible theaters: the 113-seat Chapel Theatre and the 160-seat Upstairs Theatre. Founder Ed Gryska once said the company grew by always trying to stage something new and different to balance the traditional.
