Holiday musical party based on Mo Willems' characters, with Elephant and Piggie and the Unlimited Squirrels celebrating the holidays.
The Pigeon Gets a Big Time Holiday Extravaganza! runs at Salt Lake Acting Company from December 4 through December 29, 2026. It's a brand-new musical party based on Mo Willems' books and characters, with script and lyrics by Willems and Adam Tobin, music by Deborah Wicks La Puma, and dramaturgy by Megan Alrutz.
The story brings together a few of Willems' most recognizable characters for the holidays. The Unlimited Squirrels are out decking the halls, and Elephant and Piggie show up ready to celebrate, while The Pigeon spends the show wondering whether to join in or run all the way to the North Pole in search of the greatest gift ever. It's a 60-minute show with no intermission, and it's recommended for all ages, so it works just as well as a family outing as it does for anyone who grew up with these characters.
On stage, Penelope Caywood directs a cast that includes Joseph Paul Branca, Wendy Joseph, Katie Lobrot, Alexa Shaheen, Jordan Soper, Harrison Timm, and Matthew Tripp. The production is one of the Salt Lake Acting Company's holiday offerings this season.
