Pioneer Theatre Company's holiday comedy classic by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, directed by Stephen Wrentmore.
Pioneer Theatre Company brings The Man Who Came to Dinner to the Meldrum Theatre at the Einar Nielsen Field House in Salt Lake City, running from December 4 through December 19, 2026. It's a fast-talking American comedy classic by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, directed by Stephen Wrentmore.
The story centers on Sheridan Whiteside, a famously acerbic radio personality who slips on an icy doorstep and finds himself convalescing in a respectable Ohio home just before Christmas. Once settled in, he turns polite holiday hospitality into full-blown pandemonium. Critics have called it one of the funniest plays in the American theatre and a rip-roaring comedy for the holidays, and the timing fitsβthe run starts in early December and carries through the holiday season.
This production is part of Pioneer Theatre Company's 65th season, a season the company says honors its history since opening its doors in 1962. The play is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. PTC rates it as suitable for most viewers, comparable to a PG film.
