Contemporary dance evening by Alicia Trump with Meraki Dance Theatre and guest performers from Groove the Academy, exploring connection and resilience.
Alicia Trump brings Social Currents to the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center this November, running Thursday, November 5 through Saturday, November 7. It's part of RDT's LINK Series, and the whole thing takes place in the Leona Wagner Black Box Theatre, at 138 Broadway in Salt Lake City.
The evening is built around Trump's choreography, which she developed in collaboration with the dancers of Meraki Dance Theatre, with guest performers from Groove the Academy joining in. The show runs 60 minutes with no intermission, and it's split into two distinct halves. The first part looks at the pulse of contemporary life, examining society, culture, and the ways we connect, collide, and coexist. The second half shifts gears, rising with renewed energy and optimism to offer a vision of hope, unity, and resilience.

Because it's a black box setting, you're close to the action, and the two-part structure lets the mood change right in front of you. It's recommended for all ages, and infants being held don't require a ticket, so it's an easy one to bring the kids to if you're out with them that night. Each performance starts at 7:30 PM, and with the show running an hour straight, you'll be out well before 9:00 PM.
