Book talk by Angela Duckworth on her book 'Situated' at the First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City.
Angela Duckworth is coming to The First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City on Wednesday, October 21, for a talk about her book Situated. It's a book talk, so the evening centers on the book itself rather than a general lecture.
If you're already familiar with Duckworth's work, you know she's built a career around the idea of grit—the combination of passion and perseverance that she argues matters more for success than talent alone. Situated is her latest project, and this is a chance to hear her talk through it in person. A book talk usually means she'll walk through the core ideas of the new work, explain how she arrived at them, and perhaps share some of the stories and research that didn't make it into the final pages. It's a good way to get the main points of the book without having to read it cover to cover first.
Since it's a book talk, it's also a good bet there will be a Q&A session. That's often the best part of these things—getting to ask a question and hear a direct answer rather than just listening to a presentation. If you've been following her work or have your own thoughts on how environment and situation shape who we become, that's where you'll get to voice them.
