Halloween-themed square dance with live music from The Brine Shrimps and caller Melissa Chilinski, with costumes encouraged and 21+.
The Brine Shrimps are taking over Fisher Brewing Co. on Tuesday, October 27, for a Halloween-themed square dance. It's a 21+ night, so you'll need your ID, and costumes are encouraged—which is a good excuse to lean into the holiday a few days early. The band provides the live music, and Melissa Chilinski is the caller, the one who tells you when to turn, swing, and switch partners, so you don't have to know a single step to get on the floor.
If you've never done a called dance, that's exactly how it works: the caller walks you through the moves in real time, and you just follow along. It's more about the social side than getting the footwork perfect, and with a live band playing, it's a far cry from a dance class. The Brine Shrimps handle the music, and Chilinski handles the calling, so you can just focus on not stepping on anyone's toes.
