Free community concert by the Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band and the White Heather Dancers, part of the church's annual Scottish Festival.
The Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band and the White Heather Dancers are performing at the First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City on Saturday, October 24. It's a free community concert, part of the church's annual Scottish Festival, which runs across two days and continues with the Kirkin' o' the Tartan service on Reformation Sunday.
The concert is one piece of a larger celebration. The festival brings together Scottish food, a kids' carnival with games, a bake sale, and local craft vendors. There are even mini Highland cows on site, so it's as much a fair as it is a musical event. The evening concert doubles as a fundraiser: the band and dancers host a silent auction to support their 'Get a Scot to Scotland' campaign, which raises money to send the pipe band to compete at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow.

If you're planning to go, keep in mind that the concert is just one part of the weekend. The festival spans two days, and the Kirkin' o' the Tartan service follows on Reformation Sunday, so there's more to the Scottish theme than just the Saturday night show. The concert itself is free and open to the community, and the silent auction is where you can put some money toward the band's trip to Scotland.
