Live string quartet performance by the award-winning Poiesis Quartet, presented by the Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City.
Poiesis Quartet plays Libby Gardner Concert Hall on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:30 PM. The Cincinnati-based string quartet is coming to Salt Lake City as part of the Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City's 61st season, and the concert is followed by a dessert reception in the Bastian Atrium.
They're arriving with a couple of big wins behind them. They took the Grand Prize at the 2023 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the First Prize at the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition. The New York Times described their artistry as "multifaceted" and their programming as "brilliantly idiomatic," which is a fancy way of saying they know how to lean into the specific strengths of the music they're playing.
If you want a bit of context before the music starts, there's a pre-concert talk at 6:30 PM in Room 270, so you can get your bearings before the main event. The hall is at the University of Utah, 1375 East Presidents Circle, Salt Lake City, UT 84112.
