Stand-up comedy show by Pete Lee, the first comedian to earn a standing ovation on The Tonight Show, at The Showroom.
Pete Lee is playing The Showroom @ The Gateway on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5. He's a stand-up comedian who first made a name for himself on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he became the first stand-up to earn a standing ovation. Fallon brought him on after catching one of his live sets in New York, and that moment put him on the map.
Lee's path to that stage started in Janesville, Wisconsin, where he was raised by divorced parents and a 19-inch television. He moved to New York after his 2005 Comedy Central debut on Premium Blend, and from there he spent years working the circuit. He was voted a standout at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, made it to the semi-finals of NBC's Last Comic Standing in 2008, and even had a stint acting on the CBS soap opera As The World Turns.
Since then, he's kept busy across a few different formats. He shot a Comedy Central half-hour special, played more than 500 colleges, and hosted the web show New York Minute:30 on MSN.com. He also wrote and performed on VH1's Best Week Ever, TruTV's Greatest Ever, and Comedy Central's Roast Battle. On top of the stand-up, he hosted NFL Rush on Nickelodeon's Nick Toons and starred in the documentary I Need You to Kill.
