Painting and drawing classes for beginners and intermediate students aged 12 and over at the Visual Art Institute.
The Visual Art Institute is running painting and drawing classes for beginners and intermediate students, open to teens and adults aged 12 and over. The watercolor sessions focus on traditional techniques like color mixing and wet-on-wet painting, with projects that run from landscapes to portraits. It's a supportive community for artists of all levels, so you don't need to be an expert to jump in.
One of the best parts is how you can fit it into your schedule. You can sign up for a full series if you want to commit and see your progress over time, or you can just drop in for a single session when you have a free morning. You'll need to bring your own supplies, though, so have your paints and brushes ready before you head over.
If the cost is a hurdle, the institute has a Tuition Assistance Program with a limited number of scholarships each term. Applications are available in both Spanish and English, and if you're taking more than one class, there's a multi-class discount of up to 10% per class. It's worth keeping in mind if you're looking to try a few different things at once.
