Free monthly storytime for families in the museum lobby, followed by a visit to the galleries for a story and a kid-friendly art project.
Once Upon an Art Museum is back at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts on Wednesday, March 3, as part of the museum's recurring Storytime for Families series. It's a free morning for families with kids, and it runs from 11 AM to 11:30 AM.
Here's how it works: families gather in the museum lobby and follow arts educators into the galleries. Once inside, they read a story and explore the art on view, then make a simple, kid-friendly art project inspired by the work they've just seen. Every month brings a new story and a new activity, so if you've been before, it's a different experience each time.
It's a low-pressure way to get kids into the museum. Instead of just walking through and hoping they stay interested, the session gives them a specific thing to look for and something to take home. Since it's part of a series, it's easy to make a habit of itβthe next session is March 3, and the one after that will be the first Wednesday in April.

Admission to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts is free every first Wednesday of the month, and this session is free too. You'll find the museum at 410 Campus Center Drive in Salt Lake City. The whole thing fits into a half-hour window, 11 AM to 11:30 AM, so it's a quick outing that doesn't take up the whole morning.
