Japanese traditional drumming performance by Kenshin Taiko at the MOVE venue in Trolley Square.
Kenshin Taiko are playing at Trolley Square on Thursday, November 5, as part of the MOVE series. If you're not familiar with the name, taiko is Japanese drumming—big drums, loud sounds, and a lot of physical energy. It's the kind of thing that's better experienced in person than described on a screen, and since this is a MOVE production, it's coming to you right here in Salt Lake City.
Taiko isn't just about hitting drums; it's as much about the movement and the presence of the performers as it is about the sound. The drums themselves are the center of the show, and the performance is built around them. It's a rhythmic, high-energy style that carries a lot of weight, and having it in an open space like Trolley Square lets the sound really open up.

This particular show is part of a longer run. Kenshin Taiko have been playing Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 PM since July 7, so the November 5 date is one of many they've been working through this season. If you've already caught them earlier in the year, this is another chance to see them; if you haven't, it's a good way to get in on the series. The performance is free, so there's no ticket to worry about—you just show up. It starts at 5:30 PM at Trolley Square.
