Modern Calligraphy and Pumpkin Lettering

Modern Calligraphy and Pumpkin Lettering comes to Varley Cocktail Bar in Salt Lake City this Saturday, October 24, from 12 PM to 1:30 PM. It's a beginner-friendly calligraphy class that lets you spend a Saturday afternoon learning a new skill and walking away with something you actually made.

The session is built around two parts: instruction and a demo. You'll start with the basics of modern calligraphy—the strokes, the pressure, and the rhythm that make it work—and then see it in action during the demo. Once you've got the hang of it, the focus shifts to the project: lettering on mini pumpkins. Instead of practicing on a pad of paper, you'll be writing directly onto the pumpkins, which makes for a seasonal piece of decor you can keep on your table long after the class is over.

Because it's aimed at beginners, you don't need any prior experience with calligraphy or lettering to join in. The class is designed to take you from nothing to a finished piece in about ninety minutes, so it's a low-stakes way to try it out without needing to commit to a full course. The mini pumpkins are provided as part of the session, so you just show up and get to work.
