Liv Rylan plays Church & State in Salt Lake City, with Meg Jordan, Ella Black and others, as part of the Sapphic Halloween Music Festival & Fundraiser, a 21+ event.
Liv Rylan plays Church & State on Thursday, October 29, from 5 PM to 10 PM. She's the headliner for a full night of live music, and she's not coming alone: Meg Jordan, Ella Black, Jaylyn Ashley, Cool Hat, and Erinne Jones are all on the bill. The whole thing is part of Ella Black's Sapphic Halloween Music Festival & Fundraiser, presented by Rule of Thirds Productions—a night of live music, costumes, and queer celebration, with the proceeds going toward Ella Black's Fake Figures music video. It's a 21+ event.
If you haven't heard of Rylan, she's a singer-songwriter and pop performer who describes her music as her dramatic diary entries set to song. She's been singing, acting, and dancing professionally for eleven years, starting as the lead vocalist in the Southern Utah jazz band Wilhelm, and she graduated with a BFA in Theatre Arts from Southern Utah University in 2021. Her velvety vocals draw comparisons to Reneé Rapp and Lake Street Dive's Rachel Price, and she describes her own dramatic style as a queer, evil twin of Sabrina Carpenter. That theatrical background comes through in the way she puts her songs together—they're built around the same kind of storytelling you'd find in a play, with the drama right up front.

The night is more than just Rylan's set, though. With Meg Jordan, Ella Black, Jaylyn Ashley, Cool Hat, and Erinne Jones all filling out the lineup, it's a full run of live acts. The fundraiser element means the night is tied to a specific project: the proceeds help bring Ella Black's Fake Figures music video to life. Between the music, the costumes, and the queer celebration, it's a Halloween-themed night that runs from 5 PM to 10 PM at Church & State, 370 S 300 E in Salt Lake City. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door, with a $45 VIP lounge available presale only.
