Stage production of the sci-fi musical 'Little Shop of Horrors' directed and choreographed by Gerry McIntyre at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre.
Little Shop of Horrors is running at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre from October 23 through November 7, 2026. It's a sci-fi musical that's been a cult favorite for over 30 years, and this production is directed and choreographed by Gerry McIntyre, with musical direction by Helen Gregory.
If you're not familiar with the story, it follows Seymour Krelborn, a timid florist's clerk whose shop is saved by an exotic, wilting flytrap he names Audrey II, after his coworker's crush. The plant promises fame and fortune in exchange for fresh blood, and as it grows, it hints at out-of-this-world origins and an appetite for global domination. It's billed as a perennial cult classic and a Halloween-season favorite, and it's currently running on stage in New York.
The show has some deep roots. It's loosely based on Roger Corman's 1960 black comedy film, with a screenplay by Charles Griffith, and was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. That's the same creative team behind Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin, so the music comes from a very familiar place. Ashman wrote the book and lyrics, and Menken handled the music.
