Contemporary dance work by Utah choreographer Kellie St. Pierre that merges dance, projection and moving surfaces, part of the Stage Door Series commission.
Kellie St. Pierre brings a new contemporary dance work to Kingsbury Hall from January 20 to 22, 2027, with performances each night at 7:30 PM. It's part of the Stage Door Series commission, and since it runs for three consecutive nights, you've got a few chances to catch it.
St. Pierre is a Utah-based choreographer and interdisciplinary artist who builds immersive dance experiences around socially relevant themes. This new piece is a layered one: projection, moving surfaces, and dance merge the body with its environment, so it's as much about the space as it is about the movement. It fits right into the kind of work she's known forβturning movement into visual storytelling.
Her background explains a lot of that. She's a 2025 Palm Desert Choreography Festival Grand Prize winner, and Regional Dance America named her a Pacific Monticello Emerging Choreographer. Much of her work focuses on the kinesthetic and emotive interplay between the human body, the environment, technology, and objects. Before she was choreographing, she spent five seasons touring internationally with DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion, which appeared on Season 12 of America's Got Talent. She also danced for Donald McKayle's Etude Ensemble. On the screen side, her screendance films have been recognized at the Women in Dance Leadership Conference, the Dance Film Festival in Yokohama, Cinedanza International, the For This Earth Screendance Festival, and the Utah International Dance Film Festival.

She's currently on faculty at the University of Utah, where she earned her MFA in Dance and Screendance in 2023, following a BFA from UC Irvine. Tickets are $47, which includes fees. If you're planning on seeing a few things this season, there's a 20% savings with a 3+ show package, though that doesn't apply to Youth tickets, which are already discounted. All three performances are at 7:30 PM at Kingsbury Hall.
