Stand-up comedy show in which the audience becomes part of the performance, with Kabeto turning every moment into a unique night of comedy.
Kabeto brings his live comedy show to the Jeanné Wagner Theatre on Friday, October 30, at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center downtown. It's presented by Miami Show Productions.
If you've seen comedy before, you know the drill: you sit in the dark, the comic tells a story, you laugh. Kabeto flips that. He describes Kabeto en Vivo as an experience where the audience stops being spectators and becomes part of the show. Over about two hours, he takes every story, every random occurrence, and every unexpected moment that happens in the room and builds a night of comedy around them in real time. Because so much of it comes from the people sitting there with you, no two performances ever take the same course. The only thing that stays the same is the laughter.
His material pulls from the things he knows best: the ups and downs of couple relationships, the immigrant experience, and the differences between Latinos. Those are the threads he weaves together, and the interaction with the crowd is what ties it all into something different every night. If you're the kind of person who likes to be part of the action rather than just watching from the wings, this is exactly the kind of show you'll want to be in the room for.

The Jeanné Wagner Theatre is one of three stages at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, which opened in 1997 and moved into its current building in 2001. The center was named by Izzi Wagner, whose mother Rose Wagner built the Wagner Bag Company and whose wife Jeanne was a dancer. Along with the Jeanné Wagner Theatre, the center houses the Leona Wagner Black Box and the Studio Theatre, and it's home to resident companies like the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation, Plan-B Theatre Company, Repertory Dance Theatre, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, and Pygmalion Productions. The show is at 138 West 300 South in Salt Lake City; doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
