Grammy-winning violinist Joshua Bell performs Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the Utah Symphony, conducted by Earl Lee.
Joshua Bell returns to Maurice Abravanel Hall on Wednesday, March 17, 2027, at 7 PM to perform with the Utah Symphony. It's a double-Beethoven program: the Violin Concerto and Symphony No. 2.
Bell is a Grammy-winning violinist, and he'll be playing his Stradivarius for the concerto, a work known for its sweeping lyricism and dazzling virtuosity. The Violin Concerto is one of the big ones in the repertoire, and having a soloist of his caliber take it on is exactly why you'd want to be in the room for it.
On the other half of the bill is Symphony No. 2, and that's where the night gets a bit more personal. Beethoven wrote it while he was facing the first signs of his hearing loss, and it's full of wit, energy, and a determination to keep his gift alive. Leading the symphony is conductor Earl Lee, who won the Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award; this marks his Utah Symphony debut, so it's his first time on the podium here.
