Free 45-minute guided lunch-hour tour of the exhibition 'For the Future' led by Stacey Kelly, the UMFA's Director of Collections and Conservator.
Stacey Kelly leads a guided tour of For the Future: Collecting at the UMFA 2001-2026 at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts on Friday, November 20. The tour runs from 12:00 to 12:45 PM, and it's free.
For the Future marks the 25th anniversary of the Marcia and John Price Museum Building. It pulls together some of the museum's most notable acquisitions from the last quarter century, so the tour is a look at what the UMFA has brought into its collection since 2001. Kelly will walk you through the exhibition and talk about the works on view.
Kelly is the Director of Collections and Conservator at the UMFA, and she's the one who oversees the long-term care of nearly 23,000 objects, including more than 10,000 works on paper. She holds an M.A. with Distinction in Conservation of Fine Art from Northumbria University and has conserved works by Mary Cassatt, John James Audubon, William Henry Jackson, and Charles Russell. Having the person who actually looks after the collection lead the tour gives you a perspective you won't get from the wall text alone.
