Annual holiday market with local and handmade goods, live music by Music Crimson, museum café and tours of the latest exhibitions.
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is bringing back its Holiday Market on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6, from 9 AM to 5 PM both days. It's an annual thing that takes over the galleries, filling them with local and handmade work across a lot of different media: jewelry, textiles, candles, paintings, ceramics, prints, artisan toffee, handbound books, fiber art, and soaps. Each purchase supports both the vendors and the museum, which the UMFA describes as Utah's one and only museum of local and international art.
If you're coming on Saturday, there's a full day of live music provided by Music Crimson Live through the University of Utah's School of Music. It's broken into four back-to-back sets: Sydney Gordon on jazz trio from 10 AM to 12 PM, Wyatt Deford on classical guitar from 12 PM to 2 PM, Andreas Landstedt on piano from 2 PM to 4 PM, and Liam Kimball on jazz trio to close things out from 4 PM to 5 PM. You can drift in and out between the booths and the music, or hang around for a few different acts.
Beyond the market, you can pair the shopping with lunch or a drink at The Museum Café and a tour of the museum's latest exhibitions. Art-inspired gifts are also available throughout the season in The Museum Store. If you're a member, you get unlimited access to special exhibitions, a full year of access to the permanent collection, and 10% off all purchases at the store.
