Free, open-to-all-artists critique group hosted by local artist Jason Hanson, where artists share finished or in-progress work and receive feedback.
Grow: A Critique Group for Artists meets at The Gateway on Wednesday, October 21, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's a community critique group run by local artist Jason Hanson, built on the idea that artists grow when they give and receive thoughtful feedback and learn from one another. The whole thing is free and open to all artists, regardless of background or skill level.
The format is straightforward: you bring a finished or in-progress piece of art in any medium, share a brief artist statement, and then receive constructive feedback from the group. In return, you offer your own insights to fellow artists. There's also time to network with other creators in the room. It's a collaborative, encouraging environment where the goal is for everyone to leave feeling inspired and supported.
Because it's open to any medium, you can bring whatever you're working on—painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, or something else entirely—whether it's a piece you've just wrapped up or one that's still very much in progress. The group welcomes artists of all backgrounds and skill levels, so it's as much for someone just starting out as it is for a seasoned pro.
