Exhibition of watercolor, soft pastel and gouache paintings by Salt Lake City artist Jordan Tillman, inspired by small moments of joy in nature.
Jordan Tillman is showing Glimmers at the Anderson-Foothill Branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library, with the exhibit running from October 3 to November 13, 2026. The opening reception is Saturday, October 3, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, so that's your best bet if you want to catch the artist there.
Tillman is a Salt Lake City-based, self-taught painter who works mostly in watercolor, soft pastel, and gouache. The paintings pull from the soft colors and subtle details of the natural world—the kind of things you might walk right past if you aren't looking. The show takes its name from Tillman's own idea of 'glimmers': those tiny, easy-to-miss moments of joy and happiness in daily life, like the morning light in the garden, a ladybug taking flight, or the colors of the clouds. Tillman paints them in times of fear and division as a source of healing and peace, with the hope that they'll resonate with anyone who sees them.
It's not Tillman's first time out in the public. The work has been shown at several Utah art festivals, including the Utah Arts Festival and the St. George Arts Festival. This exhibition brings that same focus on the small, quiet things to a local library setting, where you can take your time with the pieces rather than catching them in a festival crowd.
