Stand-up monologue night pairing the deadpan style of Drew Simon with the story-driven, impressionist energy of Andres Herrera.
Drew Simon and Andres Herrera are pairing up at The Rickles Room on Saturday, December 12, for a night of stand-up. It's a double bill that puts two very different Salt Lake styles on the same stage, and the contrast is where the night gets its pull.
Drew Simon brings a sharp, deadpan delivery he's worked on stages across the country, including Skankfest and Don't Tell Comedy. He's performed alongside Mark Normand and Shane Gillis, and he's built his reputation on cutting observations and fearless jokesβthe kind of set that doesn't pull punches and lets the punchline do the heavy lifting. If you like your comedy dry and a little biting, that's his lane.
Andres Herrera, a Salt Lake native, works from a warmer place. He mixes stories from his Mexican-American upbringing with a gallery of colorful characters and impressions, and he's opened for Bob Kelly and the SNL duo Marcello Hernandez. There's a theatrical, animated air to his set, and he leans into everything from family culture to spot-on impressions. It's a more storytelling-driven approach, and it sits in a different gear than Simon's.
