Los Angeles fairy doom trio Faetooth plays The State Room, with support from Feral!Cat?Red!, for an over-21 show.
Faetooth play The State Room on Saturday, October 31, with Feral!Cat?Red! opening. It's a Halloween night show, and the band is coming in from Los Angeles.
Faetooth is a three-piece that formed in 2019, with Ari May on guitar and vocals, Jenna Garcia on bass and vocals, and Rah Kanan on drums. They describe their sound as "fairy-doom," and that's a pretty good shorthand for what they do: they pull together doom metal, sludge, and shoegaze, blending melodic lines with guttural shrieks. The songs tend to turn on the nature of the self, the beauty of the natural world, and the mysteries that surround us.
If you're not familiar with those labels, it's basically a mix of heavy, slow-moving riffs and a wash of noise, with the singing shifting between singing and screaming. It's a sound that fits a Halloween date well enough without needing any costumes to make it work.
