Jazz and pop/rock with original compositions in the singer-songwriter tradition, featuring Kendrick Zane, Pompe N' Honey and Josh Wright.
Kendrick Zane plays The Grand Theatre on Saturday, November 7, at 7:30 PM. He's performing under the title Elton John, Billie Joel and Piano Greats, and the set draws from that piano-driven tradition. He'll be backed by his band, and the music mixes jazz harmonies with pop and rock, alongside his own original compositions. It's the kind of singer-songwriter style that sits somewhere between Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Bruce Hornsby and Bruce Springsteen.
Zane's part of the Excellence in the Community series, which brings together local talent. The series also features Pompe N' Honey, a Salt Lake City acoustic swing band inspired by Django Reinhardt, Bob Wills, Madeleine Peyroux and Hot Club of Cowtown, and Josh Wright, a Billboard #1 classical concert pianist from the city. If you've been following the local scene, you've probably run into them separately, but this series puts them on the same bill.
