Intimate songwriter session with Eliza Thorn, a Nashville singer-songwriter of country, blues and Americana, and Morgan Snow at the Sugar House Pub.
Eliza Thorn plays the Sugar House Pub on Friday, October 23, as part of a Songwriter Session. She's sharing the bill with Morgan Snow, and the two will play intimate sets to a listening room. Doors open at 6:15 PM, and the music runs from 6:30 PM to 9 PM.
Thorn is a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, whose voice and storytelling come from years of travel and busking. Her debut album, Somebody New, is a collection of heartbreak and fever-dream tales from the road, recorded with producer and musician Mose Wilson and a group of contemporary country session players: Chris Scruggs, Dennis Crouch, Jeff Taylor, and Nate Leath. The record sits in the country tradition, and the songs on it draw from the same place as the storytelling she's known for.
Her influences are a mix of country, blues, and soul. She tips her hat to Patsy Cline, Bobbie Gentry, and Howlin' Wolf, and her music spans classic country, country blues, ragtime, honky tonk, soul, and Americana. It's a wide reach, but the common thread is the songwriting, and that's what the Songwriter Session format puts front and center.
