A drop-in art-making session where visitors create a radial paper relief inspired by Amor Muñoz's exhibition 'salt 18: Amor Muñoz' and her installation 'KaleidoscopElote'.
Amor Muñoz is the focus of a drop-in drawing session at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts on Wednesday, October 21, from 6 PM to 8 PM. The evening is built around her exhibition salt 18: Amor Muñoz and her installation KaleidoscopElote, an interactive sculpture and Augmented Reality sound experience that comes alive as people move around it.
During the session, you'll make a radial paper relief inspired by KaleidoscopElote. The museum provides all the materials, so you can just show up and start working. If you're the type who likes to keep a sketchbook on hand, feel free to bring yours along, but you don't need anything to get going. It's a drop-in format, which means you can join in whenever you like within that two-hour window, as space allows.
Muñoz is a Mexico City-based artist whose work sits at the intersection of technology, craft, labor, and biology. She brings contemporary tools into contact with much older systems of knowledge to look at the long exchange between people, the natural world, and the cosmos. KaleidoscopElote fits right into that—it's a piece that changes based on the people around it, blending a physical sculpture with an AR sound experience.
