Dramatic ballet by Ballet West inspired by Bram Stoker's novel, with Gothic horror, comedy, flying effects and pyrotechnics, recommended for ages 8 and up.
Ballet West brings Dracula back to the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre this October, running from Friday, Oct 23 through Saturday, Oct 31. It's a dramatic ballet based on Bram Stoker's novel, choreographed by Ben Stevenson with music by Franz Liszt, arranged by John Lanchbury and performed by the Ballet West Orchestra.
Stevenson describes it as a fusion of Gothic horror in the style of old Hollywood, lighthearted comedy, and classical ballet. The production leans into the theatrical side of things—there's exuberant dancing, flying effects, and pyrotechnics that carry the story from decrepit castles to a peasant village terrorized by an evil being. It runs about two and a half hours across two intermissions, and it's recommended for ages 8 and up.
Because it's a ballet, the roles are shared across the run. Dracula is danced by Adrian Fry, Tyler Gum, and Dominic Ballard. Flora is played by Nicole Fannéy, Rylee Ann Rogers, and Anisa Sinteral. Renfield is handled by William Lynch, Jonas Malika-Thompson, and Victor Galeana. Svetlana is danced by Katlyn Addison, Jenna Rae Herrera, and Lexi McCloud, and Frederick is played by Hadriel Diniz, Jordan Veit, and David Huffmire.
