The Utah Symphony presents a concert featuring conductor David Robertson leading the husband-and-wife violinists Gil and Adele Shaham, alongside pianist Orli Shaham, in a programme of duos, trios and double concertos.
David Robertson leads the Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall on Friday, January 29, and Saturday, January 30, 2027. The program brings together a family affair on stage: husband-and-wife violinists Gil Shaham and Adele Anthony, pianist Orli Shaham—Gil's sister—and Robertson himself, who is Orli's husband. The set moves through duos, trios, and double concertos, and it opens with Robertson's own piano concerto, which he describes as a "love letter" to his wife.
From there, the evening pulls in works by Pablo de Sarasate, Avner Dorman, and Reena Esmail. It's a program that shifts gears between the two violinists and the piano, with the family ties running through the whole thing. The first performance on Friday is also offered as a Finishing Touches rehearsal at 10 AM that morning—part of the symphony's behind-the-scenes series that lets you watch the orchestra and its guests work through the final details before the actual show. If you're coming for the evening performance, there's a pre-concert chat with the guest artists and symphony musicians 45 minutes before the start in the First Tier Room.
