Free daily organ recitals by the Temple Square organists, held in the historic Tabernacle on Temple Square.
The Tabernacle on Temple Square hosts daily organ recitals, and there's one this Monday, October 26, in Salt Lake City. It's part of a long-running series that's been going for a century, with the Temple Square organists taking turns at the console. Most days you'll hear one of the resident organists, though guest performers stop in from time to time.
Since 2000, the recitals have expanded beyond the Tabernacle organ to include the organs of the Conference Center, so the program draws from more than one instrument. Each session runs about 30 minutes, and all ages are welcome. If you're heading to the Tabernacle, you can get in through doors 11 or 18.
It's a daily thing, Monday through Saturday from 12 PM to 12:30 PM, with a Sunday slot from 2 PM to 2:30 PM. There are a few gaps in the schedule, though: no recitals on Thursday, October 15; Sunday, October 25; Thursday, November 26 for Thanksgiving; and Friday, December 25 for Christmas. Other than those dates, you can find a recital nearly every day of the week.
