Night of goth, darkwave, new wave, post-punk and industrial music with DJ @thylacine.queen, presented by What The Dance.
CRIMEWAVE is taking over Urban Lounge on Saturday, October 24, starting at 9 PM. It's a night presented by What The Dance, and the whole thing is built around a specific corner of the dark dance floor: goth, darkwave, new wave, post-punk, and industrial. If those labels sound familiar, you've got the gist of it.
Behind the booth is DJ @thylacine.queen, and the set list is a pretty clear map of what to expect. You'll hear the heavy hitters—Depeche Mode, The Cure, and Nine Inch Nails—alongside the more current darkwave and coldwave sounds of Mareux, Molchat Doma, and Boy Harsher. It's a mix that reaches back to the 80s and pulls forward into the newer stuff coming out of the scene, so you'll get the classics and the more recent additions in the same night.
What The Dance describes the night as a 'dance into the darkness' and puts out an invitation to 'dress to impress,' which is a nice nod to the way people usually show up for a night like this. If you've got a particular look you've been waiting for an excuse to wear, this is a good one for it.
