U Opera production of Mozart's comedy 'Così fan tutte' at Kingsbury Hall, part of UtahPresents.
U Opera is bringing Mozart's Così fan tutte to Kingsbury Hall on February 26 and 27, 2027. It's a production from UtahPresents, a program of the University of Utah, and it's one of the few times this particular opera gets a full staging in the city.
If you're not familiar with it, Così fan tutte is Mozart's brilliant, bittersweet comedy. The story starts when two young officers make a wager on their fiancées' fidelity, and from there it spirals into an escalating game of disguise, deception, and desire. It's a bit of a psychological experiment gone wrong, and it's set to some of Mozart's most beautiful music. The title translates to "thus they all do," which gives you a fair hint about where the plot is headed.
U Opera is the group behind this one, and since it's a University of Utah program, it's a student-led production. That means you're seeing young singers and musicians taking on a classic rather than a professional touring company. The show runs over two nights, so you've got a choice of when to catch it.
