Free open mic for classical guitarists of all ages and skill levels, with a ten-minute rule and solo acts and guitar ensembles.
Utah Classical Guitar is hosting a classical guitar open mic at the Salt Lake City Public Library Glendale Branch on Saturday, October 24. It's a free, live gathering for players of all ages and skill levels, and the whole point is to get people performing in a recital setting. If you've been working on something in private, this is a low-stakes way to get it out in front of an audience.
There's a few different ways to use the slot. You can bring a piece you've already polished and just want to play through, or you can use it to test out new repertoire you're still figuring out. It's also a good place to get some experience playing in a recital setting if you're not used to it. The format is open to everyone: a ten-minute rule keeps things moving, and the younger players under 18 go first. Solo acts sit alongside guitar-based ensembles, and those can include other string instruments too, so you don't have to be a solo guitarist to sign up.
