Christmas ballet in which Clara and Mother Goose journey to the Storybook Garden to rewrite the pages of a magical Christmas book.
Rise Up School of Dance brings Clara's Storybook Nutcracker to Kingsbury Hall on December 16 and 17, both nights starting at 6:30 PM. It's a Christmas ballet that puts a different spin on the Nutcracker story, and it's presented by UtahPresents, the University of Utah program that brings a wide range of artistic and cultural experiences to campus and the region. This one is part of The Michel Foundation and Friends series.
The plot centers on Clara and Mother Goose, who receive a magical storybook as a Christmas gift. When Rats and Mice tear its pages, the two set off for the Storybook Garden with the help of the Snow Queen. Along the way, Clara meets storybook friends like Puss in Boots, Little Bo Peep, and Red Riding Hood, and together they rewrite the book's pages to make a magical Christmas. It's a Nutcracker for families, with the familiar ballet framework expanded into a journey through a collection of fairy tales.
