Annual concert of the Children's Dance Theatre, with original choreography from selected CDT classes, at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.
Children's Dance Theatre returns to the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center on Saturday, November 14, for their annual concert. It's a compilation of choreography built from original work performed by selected CDT classes, and the company describes it as a celebration of creative expression, the strength of community, and the joy of dance.
CDT is the premier performing company of Tanner Dance, which was founded in 1949 by Virginia Tanner. Over the decades, the company has earned state, national, and international recognition, and this annual show is the primary way they get their work on stage each year. Because the performance is built from original choreography created within their own classes, what you see is a direct look at the work coming out of the studio.
The show takes place in the Jeanné Wagner Theatre, part of the larger Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center at 138 W 300 S in downtown Salt Lake City. The center opened in 1997 on the site of the former home of Rose and Harry Wagner, then reopened in 2001 as the dream of the Performing Arts Coalition. Izzi Wagner, Rose's son, was the naming donor, giving the Jeanné Wagner Theatre to his wife and the Leona Wagner Black Box to his sister.
