Free public session on grief and the holidays with speaker and musician Dominic Moore, MD, who combines conversation and music.
Caring Connections returns to the University of Utah College of Social Work on Tuesday, November 10, for its annual public gathering on grief. This year's theme is Grief in Motion: Finding Our Way, and it's built around the idea that grief changes over time—how we move through loss while keeping the memory of who we lost alive.
Leading the evening is Dominic Moore, MD, who brings two very different sides of his life to the room. By day, he's the Senior Medical Director for Home Services, Associate Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Shared Services, and Physician Lead for Ethics at Intermountain Health. By night, he's a musician with a local following of his own: ten albums with the group The Lower Lights and six albums of original songwriting. He'll be using both—conversation and music—to talk about how to carry loss while still finding meaning and connection.
The session is part of Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief, a program that holds this gathering every year. The focus this time is on the motion of it—the way grief shifts and how we navigate that change. Moore will be speaking and playing, and the two go together: the medical perspective on loss and the musical one.
