Candlelight concert in which the string quartet Range Ensemble plays medleys of 1990s hip-hop in a room lit only by candles.
Candlelight: 90s Hip-Hop on Strings comes to The Little America Hotel on Friday, October 30, at 8:30 PM. It's part of the Candlelight series, which takes a particular musical theme and moves it into a venue chosen for its atmosphere, and this one reimagines the golden age of 1990s hip-hop for strings. The room is lit by candles, and the music is performed by a string quartet.
The quartet is the Salt Lake City-based Range Ensemble, and they'll be playing a program of 90s hip-hop medleys. The whole thing runs about 60 minutes. It's a tribute experience, so it's not associated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the artists whose work it covers.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you go. The show is recommended for ages 8 and up, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Seats are assigned on arrival on a first-come basis within the zone you buy, so if you want a better spot, you'll want to get there early. There's no on-site parking, so you'll need to find a spot nearby. A cashless bar serves light snacks and refreshments throughout the night.
