A roller-skating session with rock and roll music at The Chapel, Dix Park, open to all ages with skate rentals available.
The Chapel at Dix Park is turning into a roller-skating rink for one night on Friday, October 30, from 6:45 PM to 8 PM. The session is open to all ages, and the skating is provided by The Wright Wheelhouse. It's a rock and roll night, so expect a soundtrack to skate to while you're out there.
One of the best things about this one is that it's open to everyone, whether you've been skating for years or you're just getting on wheels for the first time. You don't need to be a pro to join in. The whole thing is free to attend, thanks to donors to the Dix Park Conservancy, but you do need to register in advance. Space is limited, and walk-ins are only taken if there's room left over, so it's worth signing up early rather than leaving it to chance.
If you don't have your own skates, you can rent a pair on-site for $10, available in adult and junior sizes. There's a discount if you're renting three or more pairs, which makes it a bit easier if you're bringing a group. The venue is The Chapel at Dix Park, 1030 Richardson Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603.

It's a good time to be spending an evening at Dix Park. The park has been seeing a lot more activity lately, especially since the Gipson Play Plaza opened in 2025, and this is one more reason to head over there. The session runs from 6:45 PM to 8 PM on Friday, October 30, and since it's free, the only thing you'll need to budget for is the $10 skate rental if you don't bring your own.
