A concert of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue performed by The North Carolina Symphony, with pre-concert insights.
The North Carolina Symphony is bringing Rhapsody in Blue to the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17. Both nights start at 8 PM, but if you're around on Friday, there's a matinee at 12 PM too. The concerts are held in the Meymandi Concert Hall, at 2 E. South St.
For those who like to arrive early, the evening shows are preceded by Concert Insights, a free 30-minute pre-concert experience with guest artists and Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto. It's a good way to get a bit of context before the music starts. The venue also has The Lounge, a private pre-show room with its own bar and one complimentary beverage per guest.
The North Carolina Symphony is the state's orchestra, built on a dual legacy of statewide service and music education, with a stated aim of the highest standard of artistic quality. This particular program centers on Rhapsody in Blue, and the evening concerts open with the pre-show talk.
