Stand-up comedy show by Nurse Blake, a former surgical ICU nurse who draws on healthcare experiences for his comedy.
Nurse Blake brings his But Did You Die? Comedy Tour to the Martin Marietta Center on Monday, October 19, 2026. The show runs at the Fletcher Opera Theater in downtown Raleigh, with doors opening at 6 PM and the performance starting at 7 PM.
If you've never heard of him, Blake is a former surgical ICU nurse who traded the bedside for a stage. He's now an internationally touring comedian, a content creator with more than 4 million followers, and a healthcare advocate. He also created NurseCon at Sea and wrote two best-selling children's books, I Want To Be A Nurse When I Grow Up and Santa Sent to the E.R.
His comedy comes straight from the floor. He pulls from the wildest things patients and their families say and doβlike people self-diagnosing "Stage 8 Cancer" with WebMD or hitting the call light as if it were a game show. He describes the night as nonstop laughter aimed squarely at healthcare workers who desperately need a break.

Beyond the stage, he's spent a good deal of time advocating for the profession. He helped lead the Banned4Life campaign, which contributed to the FDA lifting the lifetime ban on gay men donating blood, and he campaigns for safe staffing ratios and against the culture of "nurses eat their young."
It's a Monday night in downtown Raleigh, so if you're in the field, it's a good excuse to get out of the unit for a few hours. Doors open at 6 PM; the show starts at 7 PM.
