The North Carolina Symphony performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 25, conducted by Carlos Miguel Prieto with Evren Ozel on piano, alongside Mozart's Symphony No. 35 'Haffner' and Symphony No. 39.
The North Carolina Symphony is bringing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 25 to Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23, 2027, with both performances starting at 8 PM. If those dates don't work, there's a third show on Sunday, January 24, at 3 PM over at Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill. All three are part of the symphony's 2026/27 season.
The concerto takes center stage, with pianist Evren Ozel on the keys and Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto conducting. But it's not a one-piece program. The symphony is pairing the concerto with two of Mozart's symphonies: Symphony No. 35, known as the 'Haffner,' and Symphony No. 39. Between the concerto and the two symphonies, it's an all-Mozart evening, so you'll get a good look at how he handled the piano and the full orchestra in the same night.
One thing worth knowing is that these aren't just 'sit down and listen' concerts. Each one is preceded by Concert Insights, a free 30-minute pre-concert experience. You can arrive early to talk with the guest artists and walk through the musical highlights of the program with Carlos Miguel Prieto himself. If you're not entirely familiar with the pieces, it's a good way to get your bearings before the music actually starts.

On the practical side, doors open 90 minutes before the performance, so you've got plenty of time to get settled. Every patron needs a ticket, and children two and under aren't permitted. The Raleigh shows are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 PM at Meymandi; the Chapel Hill show is Sunday afternoon at 3 PM at Memorial Hall.
