Family-friendly fall celebration with music, crafts, costumes, decorated trunks and treats.
Lions Park is hosting its Trunk-Or-Treat on Friday, October 30, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's run by City of Raleigh Parks, and it's open to all ages, so it's a good one to bring the kids along for. The whole thing is free.
The format is exactly what the name says: people park their cars in the lot and decorate their trunks, and you walk from one to the other, collecting candy as you go. It's a low-stakes way to get the kids out in costume and let them fill their bags without having to hit the pavement on a traditional Halloween night. The candy goes car to car, so the more trunks that show up, the more stops you get to make.
Beyond the candy, there's a full fall celebration going on around the parking lot. They'll have music playing, crafts for the kids to work on, and plenty of people in costume. It's a family-friendly afternoon, and since it's run by the city parks department, it's open to everyone regardless of age. If you're not in the mood to decorate your own trunk, you can still come along and enjoy the atmosphere.
