Men's basketball exhibition game between the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears and the NC State Wolfpack at the Lenovo Center.
Lenoir-Rhyne take on NC State at the Lenovo Center on Saturday, October 24, in a men's basketball exhibition. It's a rare matchup for the two programs: they haven't met in an exhibition before this one, and their last encounter dates back nearly a century. Back in 1928, NC State won 36-22, and in the early 1920s the two sides played five times with the Wolfpack winning them all. This is the first time they've stepped on the court together since that era.
Lenoir-Rhyne comes in with some momentum. Head coach Brent Owen took over in the spring of 2024 and has led the Bears to two strong seasons, a combined 55-15 record with five NCAA postseason wins, an SAC Championship, and the program's first NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearance in 2025. They've also picked up two Division I exhibition wins in recent years: they beat Louisville 57-47 in 2022 and The Citadel 97-83 in Hickory in 2017. This puts them in a position to hold their own against a Big East opponent.
