A friendly air hockey tournament open to all skill levels, with staff available to help newcomers learn the game.
Super Rad Retro Lounge is starting a weekly air hockey tournament in downtown Raleigh, with the first one kicking off Sunday, October 11. It's a free-to-play bracket that runs every Sunday at 1 PM, and it doesn't stop after the first weekend—there are 12 sessions in total, running through Sunday, December 27. So if you miss the opener, you've got plenty of chances to jump in later in the fall.
The tournament is open to all skill levels, and that's a point they make a few times: first-timers are welcome alongside experienced players. The whole thing is built around friendly competition, bragging rights, and just having a good time, and the staff will be on hand to help newcomers learn how to play if you've never stepped up to a table before. You don't need to be a pro to enter, so it's as much about showing up as it is about winning.
If you haven't been, Super Rad Retro Lounge is an arcade bar in the Glenwood South district, located at 106 Glenwood Ave. It's packed with more than 30 classic arcade games, with air hockey and pinball in the mix, so there's plenty to do around the tournament tables. It's also an all-ages spot until 7 PM, after which entry is limited to guests 21 and over. Since the tournament starts at 1 PM, it's a good afternoon activity for any age group.
