A walking team scavenger hunt where participants follow clues, solve puzzles and crack codes to find a treasure chest, with a spooky Halloween theme.
The Downtown Raleigh Halloween Treasure Hunt is back this October, with five different dates to choose from: October 11, 17, 18, 31, and November 1. Each one runs from 2 PM to 3 PM, so you can pick the weekend that works best for you, or even grab a spot on Halloween itself.
It's a walking team scavenger hunt that starts at the Sir Walter Raleigh statue outside the Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center (formerly the Raleigh Convention Center) at 500 S. Salisbury St. From there, your team sets off with a treasure map and spends the next hour working through clues, solving puzzles, and cracking codes to find and unlock a treasure chest for a grand prize. This particular edition is themed for Halloween, so the clues and prizes are dressed up in spooky attire. The whole course covers up to two miles and takes about an hour, rain or shine, unless the weather turns dangerous.
If you've never done it, the format is part of the broader Triangle Treasure Hunt, which uses the same scavenger hunt style to send guests on hunts that double as a way to discover some of the most interesting spots around Raleigh. It's as much about seeing the city on foot as it is about the hunt itself.
