Immersive theater and musical performance blending live music, storytelling and communal ritual, guided by local ghost lore and Edgar Allan Poe.
Chaos Choir: Dark takes over Fred Fletcher Park on Wednesday, October 28, and Thursday, October 29, from 6 to 8 PM. It's an immersive theater and musical performance that marks the passage into the dark half of the year, and it's presented by Raleigh Arts as part of SEEK Raleigh, the city's experimental public arts program.
The show is led by Durham-based artist Kamara Thomas and blends live music, theater, storytelling, and communal ritual. It draws on local ghost lore, land ceremony, and an encounter with the macabre Edgar Allan Poe. The performance starts inside the historic Borden Building and leads the audience through Fred Fletcher Park to the stone amphitheater, where a chorus of voices, masks, movement, and myth invites everyone to gather at the threshold between the known and the unknown and enter the dark together.
Because it's an immersive piece, you aren't just sitting in a seat watching a stage; you're moving through the park as part of the experience. The transition from the Borden Building to the amphitheater is part of the story, so you'll want to be there from the start. The performance is open to all ages, so it works for a night out with friends or something to bring the kids along to.
